Itinerary - CLASSIC ITALY

  • Day 1: Arrival Rome

Today, enter the world of ‘Balmer Lawrie, Travel & Vacations’ as you begin your beautiful journey of Italy. Arrive at the airport in Rome. Transfer by private car from the airport to the hotel. Spend rest of the day free at leisure.

  • Day 2: Rome

After breakfast at the hotel, morning is free at leisure or you can take an optional tour of Monumental Rome (price not included) Afternoon enjoy the tour of Imperial Rome. Visit the Piazza Venezia, the square of the Capitol, the Roman Forum, the statue of Moses by Michelangelo located in the Church of St. Peter's in Chains. The tour will continue with the visit of the massive structure of the Colosseum (visit inside except 01/01, Holy Friday, 01/05, 25/12. (Including transport, guide, entrance fees to Coliseum and earphones) Tour lasts about 3 hours.

  • Day 3: Florence

Enjoy Breakfast at the hotel. Later take your own transfer to the train station. Depart to Florence by train (ticket not included). Arrive at Florence, check-in the hotel and spend rest of the day at leisure.

  • Day 4: Florence – Pisa – Florence

After breakfast at the hotel, morning is free at leisure. In the afternoon, tour to PISA, see the Piazza dei Miracoli, with the celebrated Leaning Tower (exterior), the Baptistery (exterior) and other important monuments, the interior of the Cathedral, an unrivalled masterpiece of Romanesque art constructed between the 11th and 12th centuries. (Including: transport, tour escort, guide and Cathedral entrance fees)

  • Day 5: Venice

After breakfast at the hotel. Own transfer to the train station. Depart to Venice by train (ticket not included). Arrival in Venice and own transfer to the hotel. Afternoon is free at leisure, or you can take an optional gondola ride (price not included)

  • Day 6: Venice

Breakfast at the hotel, morning is free at leisure. Afternoon excursion by boat to lagoon islands Murano, Burano, Torcello, stop in Murano, the island of the glass, and visit an artistic glass factory. Then Burano, the typical fishing island with its light and coloured contrasts. Last stop in Torcello, the most ancient inhabited island with its Byzantine cathedral rich of mosaics.

  • Day 7: Milan

Breakfast at the hotel. Own transfer to the train station. Depart to Milan by train (ticket not included) Enjoy on your own the city with its shopping and its monuments: the mysteries and treasures of the main Cathedral, a forest of gothic spires; La Scala, the world's most famous opera theatre, where music has taken up residence; the Sforzesco Castle, with its imposing silhouette, the Dome which is one of the city's symbols.

  • Day 8: Departure

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by private car to Milan airport. Return home with wonderful memories of your holiday with ‘Balmer Lawrie, Travel & Vacations’.

Optional Tours:

From Rome

  • Morning tour of Monumental Rome (SIC). The most famous squares and fountains of the capital, including St. Peter's Basilica (visit inside), Navona Square, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon (meaning "Temple of all the Gods"). (Including transport, guide and earphones) On Wednesday, due to the Papal Audience, the church of St. Peter will be visited only from outside). The tour ends in Piazza Navona.

 

  • Pizza Class: Pizza class. Enjoy a Pizza cooking class: the class will start with the most important part: making the dough. Next up is a lesson in rolling out the pizza and creating pizzas completing with different delicious toppings. Then you will be tasting the pizza delights you have created.

 

  • Cooking class. On this course you can learn to cook a typical everyday Roman meal (3 course menu) under the expert guidance of a multilingual chef. The course will be followed by lunch with the dishes you have prepared, accompanied by wine and a fun and friendly atmosphere.

 

  • Gladiator school: Experience the thrill to be Dressed and Trained as a Gladiator! Upon arrival at the training headquarters, you will visit the Historical and Didactic Museum where you will see examples of Military and Common life features. After this you will be provided with a Tunic and a wooden Gladius (Sword) and your training begins! 2000 year old Attack and Defence Gladiator techniques will be dealt with. At the end you will be given an Honorary Roman Citizenship Certificate that in the future will remind you of the hilarious time you had! The Private Instructor will be exclusively dedicated to the single group that has booked, (duration: 2 hours).

 

  • Art Safari: Safari darted Family tour is an art treasure hunt taking place in the city streets, where people go and search for specific and interesting details represented on monuments. a new way of exploring the city and getting to know its history, the main historical characters and artworks, youth and family oriented. Have your own private tour with leader will be fully available to personally guide you in the game.

 

From Florence

  • Full day tour to Cinque Terre (S.I.C): it will be a full and unforgettable day dedicated to the discovery of one of the most amazing and enchanting landscapes in the world. Five (cinque) villages, suspended between sea and land, a place where you immerse yourselves in paradise. Arrival at La Spezia and by boat you will reach Portovenere; to enjoy a stroll along the narrow streets and the small alleyways before leaving for Monterosso overcome by its enchanting beaches and lush vegetation that surround the little village. Continue towards Vernazza, last stop, a seaside town surrounding a little natural port. Cinque Terre has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.   • Segway tour in Florence (2 hours): Experiencing Florence Segway, the sights, sounds and mouth-watering aromas of the city come to you, see the hidden treasures in the vivid Florence downtown.

With safe and comfortable city – bikes, under the experienced guidance of an entertaining, friendly and professional guide, you will ride throughout the historical city centre. It will be a funny way to admire the beautiful architecture of Florence and to know all the secrets about this wonderful town.

 


From Venice

  • Enjoy the Gondola Ride (SIC), the perfect way to appreciate the beauty, charm and colour of Venice. On this unique exploration of the Venetian canals, appreciating the skill involved in steering the gondola through the intricate waterways of the city. The tour lasts about 35 minutes.

 

  • Experience: make your own glass souvenir at a glass factory in Murano, Venice Lagoon Island!Experience the creation of a necklace, bracelet, earrings and keychain, choosing from the many models After a short introduction about glass history in Venice, a glass master will assist to create a unique and original glass manufacture. Participants will have a large variety of glass beads made with different techniques such as beat, the underground, the crushed, the colorful, the floral, and many others who will be divided into distinct categories with numbers assigned according to the value of the individual item.

 

  • Experience: enter inside the ClockTower in St Mark’s Square!

The tour reveals the workings of the clock, which dates from 1753 and was a remake of the original of 1499. Until 1998 the clock was wound manually by a temperatore who lived in the tower. Amid controversy the last incumbent was replaced by an electrical mechanism. The tour concludes on the roof of the tower with a fine view over piazza San Marco, the basilica and the palace.

 

  • Experience: Get a bird's-eye view of Venice

At almost 99m (325ft), the Campanile is the city’s tallest building, originally built between 888 and 912 (in July 1902 it collapsed, imploding in a neat pyramid of rubble. It was rebuilt exactly 'as it was, where it was', as the town council of the day promised). Holy Roman Emperor Frederick III rode a horse to the top of the original in 1451; these days visitors take the lift. The view is superb, taking in the Lido, the whole lagoon and (on a clear day) the Dolomites in the distance.

 

From Milan

  • Excursion to San Siro Stadium in Milan. Feel the emotion to remember the myths of the past and to celebrate the today's champions at the "Inter and Milan" museum, dedicated to the two famous Milanese teams. Accompanied by a guide of the stadium, you will visit the ground, the tiers, the changing rooms. Then free time to visit the museum and for some shopping at the official stadium shop.

 

  • Full day excursion to Lake Como, Don't miss out on the chance to visit one of Italy's most famous lakes with time for sightseeing, a boat cruise and to stroll through the streets of the internationally renowned towns of Como and Bellagio. You will enjoy the walking tour of the city with a local guide includes a visit to the Cathedral with its gothic facade and rich tapestries decorating the interior. At 12:00, we depart for a boat cruise on the lake of Bellagio. We will reach the village at around 1:30pm to enjoy a short visit and to have some free time. (Including: return transfer, English speaking guide and minicruise)
