After breakfast at the hotel proceed on a brief city tour of Port of Spain, Trinidad's capital. We make our way through downtown, taking in the Parliament, Supreme Court, shopping streets and the city's bustling center, Independence Square and the Queens Park Savannah. Upon reaching the Caribbean Sea we take in the most spectacular panoramic view of the coastline. A stop at the Maracas Lookout gives you the opportunity for some photographs of the surrounding bays. The most popular beach in Trinidad, Maracas Bay is surrounded by lush green rainforest-covered mountains, with a sandy beach lined with coconut trees. Take a walk or swim or just relax by one of the beach huts and taste a famous Bake & Shark, a hot crispy shark sandwich with homemade bread. The second half of the tour provides a delightful introduction to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary where avifauna is particularly abundant. Upon arrival you board a large flat-bottomed boat and slowly travel along the beautiful waterways admiring the unusual landscape and variety of birds, crustaceans and other wildlife. Most of Trinidad's East Indian population is located in Central Trinidad and we see a number of Hindu Temples and prayer flags in the yards of seemingly every house. Our first stop is in the town of Chaguanas, where we visit a bustling fresh produce market. Continuing on, we visit the largest (85ft) statue of the Hindu monkey-God, Lord Hanuman, outside of India. A tour of the ashram (yoga centre) allows you to learn about interesting rituals and concepts. We now continue our tour to the famous Temple in the Sea, which stands as a beacon: you might think you are at the shores of the River Ganges! Upon arrival at the beach board the glass bottom boat (dry or wet entrance according to weather conditions). The tour takes you to the famous Buccoo Reef where we admire the colourful fishes and coral formations at the Coral Garden through the glass bottom of the boat. You have the opportunity to snorkel here, feel the excitement of swimming among exotic fishes in the quiet soft waters of the Caribbean Sea. The boat journey continues until we stop at the amazingly beautiful Nylon Pool. A sandy area in the middle of the ocean, the water is crystal clear and inviting. The legend says that the Nylon Pool has the power to rejuvenate your body, mind and spirit. Feel the warm, tropical water that caresses your body and soothes your mind. After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a full day tour of Tobago Island. Drive along the Atlantic coast as well as the Caribbean coast and a stop at the most beautiful beaches, lookouts, old forts. Our first stop is at Fort James, located in Plymouth, the biggest village on the Caribbean side. There you learn about the history of Tobago and enjoy a beautiful view overlooking three bays. We continue our drive along the Caribbean side until we reach the Mount Dillon Lookout with its stunning view overlooking Castara, a little sleepy fishing village as well as the untouched coastline. From there we drive downhill into the village of Castara were you have the opportunity to experience a typical fishing village. Our next stop is at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Englishman's Bay, that's where the rainforest almost meets green turquoise waters and an untouched bay. From there we head towards Parlatuvier, another magnificent bay. Our last stop will be the center of the North, Charlottesville. There we will visit Flagstaff Hill, where you can enjoy one of the most stunning views Tobago has to offer. Overnight at the hotel in Tobago.
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed on a Cocoa Estate & Waterfall Tour. Take a scenic drive along the Atlantic coast to Tobago's only producing cocoa estate in Roxborough. This is a heritage park where you can see historical displays and learn about the fermentation and drying process of the cocoa. We also see the old cocoa houses. Our hike takes us to the beautiful Argyle Waterfall, one of the most stunning falls in Tobago. With a height of 54 m (175 ft.) it is the highest fall on the island. It is tumbling in a series of stepped cascades. There are deep pools for swimming at the base of the falls. We bathe and enjoy the natural beauty of the forest and the soothing sounds of the water. On our way back to Scarborough we visit the Mt St George River. Upon returning to Scarborough, we visit Fort King George, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the capital.
